Pleasanton Police Department Deploys EdgeTrace Across 412-Camera Network

SAN MATEO, Calif. — June 17, 2025 — EdgeTrace today announced that the City of Pleasanton, California Police Department has deployed its AI video intelligence platform into full production across a 412-camera network spanning patrol, public, and partner feeds.

The deployment, completed in the second quarter of 2025, replaces frame-by-frame manual review with plain-language search. Detectives and real-time crime center analysts now describe what they are looking for — a vehicle, a person, a moment — and EdgeTrace returns ranked, timestamped matches across the full camera estate in seconds.

In its first operational quarter, the department reported:

  • 87% reduction in time spent reviewing video on active investigations
  • 3.2× more retrospective leads pursued per investigator
  • 1.4-second median time to first match across the camera estate
  • Zero footage frames that left the agency network — all indexing runs on-prem on an EdgeTrace appliance

"Our detectives used to lose entire shifts to footage review," said a department representative. "With EdgeTrace they're asking questions instead, and we're closing cases that would have gone cold a year ago."

EdgeTrace connected directly to the cameras and video management systems the department already operated, with no new camera hardware, proprietary devices, or manual labeling required. Every query and export is signed and timestamped, preserving chain-of-custody from the initial search through evidence handoff to prosecutors.

About EdgeTrace

EdgeTrace builds AI video intelligence for public safety. The platform unifies an agency's entire camera network into a single, searchable index, letting investigators and real-time crime center analysts ask questions in plain language and return ranked, timestamped results in seconds — with chain-of-custody preserved from query to courtroom. Indexing runs on-prem on an EdgeTrace appliance, with air-gapped deployments available for environments where footage can never traverse the public internet.

A fast answer that can’t survive cross-examination isn’t evidence. Why provenance, redaction, and signed exports matter as much as search quality in public-safety video AI.
